In November, a new wearable device called the Humane AI Pin was unveiled with much hype and anticipation (we wrote about it here). However, early reviews from prominent tech YouTubers like Marques Brownlee have been scathing, with Brownlee calling it the "worst product" he's ever reviewed.

The AI Pin, which retails for $699, promises revolutionary features such as voice interaction and a camera with visual analysis capabilities. However, reviewers found that the device often fails to respond or provides incorrect answers, leading to a frustrating user experience.

Brownlee's review has sparked controversy, with some accusing him of potentially destroying Humane's chances of success in the competitive consumer electronics market. Others argue that honest reviews are necessary, regardless of their impact on a company's prospects.

The Verge echoed Brownlee's sentiments, describing the AI Pin as an "interesting idea" that is "thoroughly unfinished" and "totally broken." Despite the device's impressive build quality, its core functionality appears to be severely lacking, raising questions about its viability in the market.

AI VIDEOS

Adobe is testing the integration of AI tools, including OpenAI's Sora, Runway, and Pika Labs, into its video editing software, Premiere Pro. These new features, set to be released later this year, will allow users to extend clips, add or remove objects, and generate b-roll footage using AI technology.

The core functionality will be delivered through Adobe's new Firefly Video generative AI model, trained on licensed content. While the use of synthetic video models has been controversial among some creatives, Adobe sees this integration as a way to enhance existing video production workflows and empower smaller creators with advanced graphics and visual effects capabilities.

By bringing generative AI innovations into Premiere Pro, Adobe aims to solve real pain points experienced by video editors, giving them more space to focus on their craft. The company plans to label any AI-generated video or video including AI elements as such in both Premiere Pro and metadata.
