🚙 Volkswagen is bringing ChatGPT into its cars and SUVs

Volkswagen is gearing up to bring ChatGPT into the driver's seat. Announced at CES 2024 in Las Vegas, the German automaker is set to integrate an AI-powered chatbot into its vehicles, starting with European models in the second quarter. This feature, based on Cerence’s Chat Pro and OpenAI's large language model, will be available in Volkswagen's EV lineup.

ChatGPT will enable more natural communication between the car and its driver, allowing control of functions like heating and air conditioning and answering general knowledge questions. Despite ChatGPT’s occasional inaccuracies, VW is ensuring the highest data protection level by immediately deleting interactions.

This integration will allow VW’s assistant to provide relevant responses to nearly any query. This move marks VW as the first major automaker to fully embrace ChatGPT, differentiating itself amidst the AI hype at the annual CES conference.
