OpenAI Dots launch film visual

OpenAI introduced Dots on September 29: GPT-6 Astra-powered agents with their own cloud computer and browser. They can carry several projects forward without a separate conversation for every step.

  • Ongoing work: delegate a project, connect the apps it needs, and inspect progress in Activity View or the dot’s computer.

  • Boundaries matter: proactive research uses read-only tools. Actions on delegated tasks follow permissions, Custom Rules, and approval requirements.

  • Check access: the initial Pro rollout excludes the EEA, Switzerland, and the UK. Business Premium is rolling out across supported ChatGPT regions; Enterprise, Edu, and Healthcare require an admin-enabled beta. Access can take several days.

Your first dot is included with eligible Pro or Business Premium access, but tasks it runs in Work or Codex still count toward those usage allowances.

Why it matters: a useful first assignment could be a weekly briefing assembled from sources you choose, with unanswered questions flagged for you. Start with a clear output and review anything consequential.

TOGETHER WITH REMOTE

Hire anyone, anywhere — compliant in under 3 days

Found the right person, but they’re in a country where you don’t have an entity? Setting one up can take months and significant cost.

Remote removes that barrier by becoming the legal employer through our own entities — handling compliant contracts, local benefits, tax setup, and onboarding for you. In fact, an employee is onboarded to Remote every 7 minutes.

Once they’re hired, the same in-house teams that support employment locally also run payroll — so you’re not bouncing between disconnected providers. Less setup, less complexity, and less time between finding the right person and getting them started.

AI TOOL OF THE DAY
Eleven v4 text-to-speech announcement

Image: ElevenLabs

Eleven v4, launched September 28, adds more expressive text-to-speech with inline directions such as [whispers] and [excited]. It’s available in ElevenCreative, ElevenAgents, and the API, including a free plan for personal use.

Try this three-minute exercise:

  1. Open Text to Speech in ElevenCreative, choose Eleven v4 and a library voice, then paste this original practice script:

[curious] A library can start with one shelf. [pause] Bring a book you loved, leave a note for its next reader, and help our neighborhood build something worth sharing.

  1. Generate it, then replace [curious] with [excited]. Keep the voice and words unchanged.

  2. Compare the invitation’s tone, pacing, and pronunciation. Keep the better take and adjust one direction at a time.

The result: two versions of the same announcement, with a clearer sense of which delivery fits. The free plan’s personal-use terms don’t cover commercial voiceovers.

Claude Sonnet 5.5 demo showing code and a flock simulation

Image: Anthropic

Anthropic’s Claude Sonnet 5.5, released September 28, is aimed at well-defined work: documents, presentations, spreadsheets, and coding tasks where you already know what a good result should look like.

  • Faster responses: Anthropic reports more than 30% faster output than Sonnet 5.

  • Lower task costs, not lower token prices: the company says it can use fewer tokens to finish a job. API rates remain $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens.

  • Available now: Sonnet 5.5 is offered across Claude’s apps and developer platforms, including AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure.

Opus 5.5 remains Anthropic’s stronger choice for complex, open-ended work. Sonnet’s pitch is getting familiar jobs done with less waiting.

Why it matters: try a bounded assignment—turning your notes into a one-page brief, for example—with an explicit audience, length, and checklist. Judge the finished document, not just how quickly the text appears.

QUICK AND FRESH

🧠 GPT-6.1 Sol arrives. OpenAI’s September 29 update is available in Work, Codex, and the API, with access for Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise, and Edu users. It isn’t in regular ChatGPT chat yet.

đź“„ ChatGPT gets shared Pages. The new Space brings people and agents into shared documents. Pro, Business, and Enterprise access starts on web and desktop; mobile reading and sharing are available, with editing still to come.

🎞️ Manus 2.0 adds a video timeline. Its September 28 release includes a Video Editor with manual controls, game creation, and automations triggered by events in connected services. You can refine generated work after the first result.

🤝 Grok launches Team Bots in public beta. Teams and Enterprise workspaces can share a bot’s context and skills while keeping individual conversations private. Slack integration brings the bot into team discussions.
