GOOGLE BARD

🤦 Google Search caught publicly indexing users’ conversations with Bard AI

Google Bard, Google's conversational AI, recently underwent a major update and has encountered mixed reviews due to an unexpected issue. SEO consultant Gagan Ghotra uncovered that shared conversational links created by Bard were being indexed in Google Search results, potentially revealing information intended to be private.

This implies that shared Bard discussions, whether they are between spouses, friends, or business partners, can be scraped and displayed publicly in Google’s Search Results. Peter J. Liu from Google Brain clarified that this issue only pertains to conversations users opt to share, not every conversation had with Bard.
However, Ghotra responded, explaining that most users likely aren’t aware that sharing a conversation means it could be indexed by Google.

Google acknowledged the problem, assuring users that efforts are underway to block such chats from being indexed and maintain user privacy. This mishap poses challenges to Google's consumer AI endeavors, particularly with rising competition from other AI chatbots like OpenAI's ChatGPT.
