GOOGLE SGE
🧠 Google’s AI-powered search experience can now generate images and write drafts
Google's Search Generative Experience (SGE) is stepping up, offering new ways to interact and create directly through its platform, a move similar to what Microsoft is doing with Bing and OpenAI’s AI tools.
Now, users can generate images and adjust drafts, making them longer, shorter, more casual, or more formal, right within SGE. Image creation is supported by Google’s Imagen model and provides results based on user’s conversational prompts.
Conscious of ethical use, Google limits image creation to users 18 and above and embeds invisible watermarks and AI-generated labels on images to prevent misuse and spread of misinformation. These new features, which are also embedded with feedback mechanisms, are rolling out gradually to a wider user base and are initially available to those who have opted into SGE through Google Search Labs.
Ultimately, Google aims to augment user interactions and content creation within its search platform, showcasing a significant shift in AI user-experience development.

PROMPTING
🪄 Meta shows how to reduce hallucinations in ChatGPT and other chatbots with prompt engineering

A new approach to reducing language model hallucinations has been unveiled by researchers at Meta AI. The strategy, termed Chain-of-Verification (CoVe), employs a prompt-based methodology to enable chatbots, like ChatGPT, to self-verify their responses, thereby curtailing the propagation of inaccuracies.
CoVe requires prompting chatbots to generate and verify responses through additional, distinct questioning, thereby enhancing the integrity of their initial replies (look at the image above).
It has demonstrated the capacity to amplify factual accuracy in long-form content by an astonishing 28%.
This methodology currently utilizes only internally stored knowledge, yet future applications may integrate external databases for even more precise verifications.
This innovative approach by Meta AI is a genuine step forward in our journey towards making AI chats friendly, reliable, and mistake-free. The simple yet effective strategy of having chatbots second-guess and validate their answers could pave the way for even sharper and trusty digital buddies in our future conversations. Cheers to CoVe for steering us towards a future where chatbots consistently get it right!
