Google has presented Lumiere, an advanced AI video generator with impressive capabilities. This innovative tool, named in homage to the Lumiere brothers of early cinema fame, can create videos based on text descriptions or images as prompts.

1. Text-to-Video Generation: Lumiere can generate video scenes solely from text descriptions, similar to AI image generators. Users can envision and bring to life various scenarios by describing them in text.

2. Video Stylization: This feature allows users to upload source videos and make creative changes. For example, a person running can be transformed into a colorful toy made of bricks.

3. Cinemagraphs and Video Inpainting: Lumiere offers options to animate specific sections of an image while keeping the rest static (Cinemagraphs) and to modify parts of the image to the user's preference (Video Inpainting).

Lumiere utilizes a unique "Space-Time U-Net architecture" that generates the entire video's temporal duration in a single pass, enabling better global temporal consistency compared to existing models.

For users, Lumiere will represent a significant advancement in AI video generation, providing more creative possibilities and a smoother video creation process. However, Google has not yet specified when or how this tool will be available for general use.
