A screen share shouldn’t reveal every conversation in your sidebar. OpenAI’s October 20 update introduces Locked Chats, rolling out gradually to Free, Go, Plus, and Pro on the web, mobile apps, and the new desktop app.
Move a conversation out of view: choose Lock chat from its ••• menu. Locked conversations disappear from regular history, pinned chats, and search, and live under Projects → Locked chats.
Choose an access check: set an account PIN, with supported device unlock options such as Face ID or Touch ID. Refresh other open devices before sharing a screen.
Know the boundary: the lock doesn’t add end-to-end encryption or change retention and model-training settings. Memories saved before locking a conversation aren’t erased.
One detail to remember: resetting a forgotten PIN permanently deletes locked chats and their associated content. Don’t treat a reset as a harmless recovery step.
Why it matters: this gives you more control over what someone nearby can see. Your data-use settings still need a separate decision.

AI TOOL OF THE DAY
Jotform App Builder lets you describe an app inside Claude, then refine it in Jotform. Here’s a manageable first project: a simple page for a neighborhood book swap.
In Claude’s + menu, browse connectors, find Jotform App Builder, connect it, and sign in to Jotform. You’ll need access to the connector and a Jotform account.
Try this original prompt:
Use Jotform App Builder to create a neighborhood book-swap app. Include a welcome page, three fictional book listings, and a request form with nickname, book choice, and preferred pickup day. Keep the wording friendly. Don’t request addresses or phone numbers. Add a note that requests need the organizer’s confirmation.
Open Edit in Jotform to check the layout and form fields. Test on a phone with fictional information before using Share App.
Then ask Claude to simplify anything that feels crowded. Check the sharing settings and any account limits before inviting real participants.
TRENDING AI TOOLS
⚡ Mercury 3 — Inception’s new text model uses diffusion to refine output in parallel. It’s worth exploring for fast writing or coding workflows; compare results on your own tasks before relying on the company’s speed claims.
✍️ Scrawl — Show a coding assistant what needs changing on your Mac. Scrawl combines screen capture, spoken feedback, and drawn annotations into a package with keyframes and a transcript, making visual bugs easier to explain.
📊 MyLens — Turn documents, notes, or recordings into a presentation that viewers can explore through their own questions. Useful for explaining the same material to different people; check generated answers against the underlying sources.
👥 Wabi — Bring an AI assistant into a shared conversation to plan together and create small apps. A group trip or hobby project makes a simple starting point: agree on the goal before adding more features.
NEWS
Finding a flight confirmation while heading to the airport is exactly the kind of chore a car assistant should help with. Google’s October 20 announcement brings Personal Intelligence to Android Auto, connecting Gemini with information from apps you choose.
Practical uses: ask about a flight from Gmail, revisit a restaurant you previously researched, or get directions to a place connected with a photo.
Your choice: Personal Intelligence is opt-in, and connected apps can be turned off. It requires an eligible personal Google account and an adult user; work and school accounts aren’t included.
Availability matters: the rollout excludes the EEA, including Italy, as well as Switzerland, the UK, and Nigeria. Cars with Google built-in are due to get Personal Intelligence in the coming months.
Why it matters: personal context could save you from spelling out the same details again. Google’s broader global Gemini car rollout and this more restricted feature have different availability.
QUICK AND FRESH
🎙️ ElevenLabs introduces Realtime. The October 20 launch adds Mini and Max speech-to-speech models through ElevenAgents and the API. They’re designed for spoken interaction across more than 90 languages; choose a model around the conversation you need to support.
🎵 Spotify explains its AI music safeguards. In its October 20 update, Spotify says AI Persona badges identify generated artist identities. These personas are excluded from recommendations by default, with exceptions such as following one. That’s different from banning every song made with AI assistance.
📹 Zoom plans deepfake risk detection. Announced at Zoomtopia, the feature is expected in December 2026. It will assess live audio and video for possible manipulation. A risk flag should prompt verification through another channel; it isn’t proof of who’s on the call.
🧬 OpenAI moves to acquire Orchestra Bio. The October 20 announcement describes combining its technology with Rosalind to coordinate scientific work across projects. This is a research-workflow development, with scientists making decisions; it doesn’t establish a new treatment or clinical result.
