💤 ChatGPT is getting lazy

Recently, I've noticed that ChatGPT seems a bit off its game, and it turns out, I'm not the only one.

Many users have recently noticed a change in ChatGPT's behavior, pointing out that the AI has become less responsive and effective. This topic has been a hot conversation on the ChatGPT subreddit, with many sharing their experiences of getting underwhelming responses from the chatbot. Addressing these concerns, OpenAI confirmed on X that there hadn't been any updates to the model since November 11th. They acknowledged that the ChatGPT's performance dip wasn't planned and that AI behavior can sometimes be unpredictable.

The exact reasons behind ChatGPT's lackluster performance weren't specified by OpenAI. I speculate that the changes might be linked to the recent 'turbo' update, which introduced GPT-4 Turbo, a much quicker version than its predecessors. While this update significantly enhanced response speeds, it's possible that in the quest for efficiency, there might have been some trade-offs in the quality of ChatGPT's responses.

Some users think that OpenAI might be limiting bandwidth per user to manage heavy traffic, but these for now are just theories without solid backing.

🧠 Melon: bring your second brain to life

If you've been a reader of this newsletter for a while, you might recall that I mentioned Melon in one of the first editions. Since then, I've started using this AI tool, and it's been transformative in my digital learning journey. Today, the daily flood of online information can be overwhelming, but Melon has brought much-needed organization and clarity to my digital life.

Acting as a digital twin of my brain, Melon helps me store and effectively organize insights from various sources. This process of converting digital clutter into coherent knowledge has not only saved me valuable time but has also deepened my understanding of complex topics.

It's incredible how Melon manages to connect the dots. I can throw in almost anything I find interesting on the internet, and it consistently finds connections between seemingly disparate pieces of information.

Often, I find myself revisiting insights I had forgotten, and Melon makes them readily accessible, ensuring that no valuable thought is lost in the digital shuffle.

🍈 Inside the Life of an AI Startup CEO: How Sanne Fouquet Created Melon

I found myself so captivated by the app that I decided to reach out to Sanne Fouquet, the CEO and founder of Melon, to delve deeper into what inspired her to create such an innovative platform, and her unique journey from a small 90-inhabitant town in Sweden to launching an AI startup, with a key role at Palantir in between.

This led to an inspiring conversation about the life and daily challenges of being a young CEO, leadership, work-life balance, and much more:

🚀 OpenAI finally re-enables ChatGPT Plus subscriptions

A month ago, OpenAI had to pause new subscriptions to ChatGPT Plus due to high demand following the DevDay announcements. However, today, Sam Altman has finally announced that subscriptions are once again open for registration. A perfect Christmas gift from OpenAI to those who were hesitant about joining ChatGPT Plus in mid-November and have had to wait until now.
